If you’ve been following me for awhile, you’ll know that I love finding gems on Airbnb. A few months ago, I saw this amazing treehouse in the Santa Cruz mountains (just an hour away from SF) and knew I had to book it for a relaxing getaway.
Ok, a couple of really cool things about this treehouse:
- It’s in a vineyard! There are so many wineries (within 5-15 minutes away) where you can do wine tastings.
- It’s one of the highest treehouses I’ve ever been to (you have to climb a 30′ ladder contraption to get up there.
- The hosts are the nicest people, and are so knowledgable about the surrounding area. After living in the bay area for 4 years, it’s crazy how theres still so much I haven’t seen.

We got here Saturday afternoon or so, and spent the evening just strolling in their backyard (aka their vineyard), and pigging out on tons of cheese, crackers, wine that we packed. The hosts also gave us a ride in their tractor to show us around which was really fun. Be warned that it does get a bit dusty up here, so be extra careful with any white clothing!
One particularly interesting feature about this treehouse is how high it is. Hahaha I know I’ve said this probably 10 million times already, but climbing up the treehouse made me a little nervous, not going to lie. And getting all of our bags into the treehouse was another (solved) struggle- The hosts created a pulley system that you can put your bags and luggage in, and pull it up!
At night, the treehouse lights up, and you see the city lights glimmering along the Monterey coast. If that’s not a dreamy paradise, then I don’t know what is.
