Weekend getaway at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay

Not too far from San Francisco, is an elusive and beautiful place- Half Moon Bay. Half Moon Bay is right along Highway 1 and known for its amazing coastal views. I’ve road tripped down Highway 1 a few times, driving from San Francisco all the way to Los Angeles. I love this route because its peaceful and scenic. This time, it was just a short trip down to Half Moon Bay to check into the Ritz Carlton property there. Ritz Carlton, Half Moon Bay is the only ocean front resort in NorCal and also rated on Forbes as one of the most luxurious places to stay at. The weather is now starting to clear up, which couldn’t have made it a more perfect weekend to getaway from the hustle & bustle in the city.

I was really looking forward to our room, and it was *AMAZING*. We booked an Ocean Terrace Room, which meant that it has a private balcony with an ocean view. The balcony door is on the ground level, and immediately you’ll see your own personal fire pit. We treated ourselves to their amazing s’mores kit, some wine, and enjoyed the views, and that was a pretty phenomenal dinner 😉

We also got to enjoy lunch at the Conservatory and breakfast at the Navio. The views here are unparalleled, and the food is extremely fresh. Living in California, I feel so blessed to enjoy farm-to-table cuisine which is honestly one of my favorites. For breakfast, my favorites were the mascarpone blueberry pancakes and the avocado toast. For lunch, you can’t go wrong with the crab dip or the cioppino! If you want to have a celebratory meal without staying overnight here, I think grabbing a meal here is also a nice way to enjoy the views and the food.

My last favorite moment over the weekend was enjoying all the beautiful mustard flowers right next to the property! I think mustard flowers are the equivalent of lupins in Iceland. They’re both invasive plants that spread so rapidly across the region. While some people think of them as pests, I would say most marvel at their beauty. When we drove by, it had just rained, and the fields were glowing yellow. Not going to lie, it was a bit muddy… but how can you resist a good opportunity to frolick in the fields 🙂

Have you been to Half Moon bay before? Let me know!
